Lisa G. Samia

Lisa G. Samia is an Award-Winning Poet and Author who loves American Civil War History. Her latest accomplishments include being selected as the National Parks Artist in Residence for Stones River Murfreesboro, Tenessee, and as the National Parks Arts Foundation's Artist in Residence for Gettysburg National Battlefield Park and the National Parks Service Artist in Residence for Manassas National Battlefield Park, all for poetry.

In 2024, she was featured in two articles on ''Emerging Civil War/blog'' about Asia Booth Clarke, the sister of John Wilkes Booth, and her Artist-In-Residency experience at Manassas National Battlefield Park. Her article on Asia Booth Clarke was included in the Surratt Courier, and she was the featured poet in the Winter 2024 issue of Civil War Magazine.   Her three Civil War poetry books include “The Nameless and the Faceless of the Civil War,” a collection of 28 poems and 28 essays on the historical representations of Civil War events through the narrative of poetry. It was released in April 2018 and endorsed by Eric Swanson, the NYT best-selling co-author of The Joy of Living. “The Nameless and the Faceless Women of the Civil War,”  released in April 2021 and endorsed by Eric Swanson.  "The Nameless and the Faceless of the Civil War Gettysburg Manassas & More" May 2023 was nominated in 2024 by the International Edgar Allan Poe Festival and Awards Baltimore, MD.

Also, “The Man with the Ice Blue Eyes,” A Romantic Poetry Collection of Love and Heartache, debuted at number one on Amazon.com for Women’s Poetry in July 2016. The collection includes two award-winning poems from the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association.

She has presented her poetry at the American Civil War Museum, Richmond and Appomattox, Manassas National Military Park, The Gettysburg Civil War Round Table, The Seminary Ridge Museum, the Gettysburg Heritage Museum, the New England Civil War Museum, and more.

Lisa is also an avid author and speaker on John Wilkes Booth and his sister Asia Booth Clarke. She has appeared multiple times at Tudor Hall in Bel Air, MD (Booth Family Home) and the Civil War Round Table Congress (via Zoom) to a sold-out audience. Her recent endeavor is researching and writing a biography of the life of Asia Booth Clarke, Sister to John Wilkes Booth, A Woman of the Civil War.
